Crawford Reservoir State Park

Just southeast of Hotchkiss is the Crawford Reservoir State Park. The facility has 55 camping sites and is managed by the Colorado Department of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, 970-921-5721. Not a bad place to hang out. It has a dump station, swimming beach, grills, picnic tables, trails, a boat ramp. The last time I checked it cost $6 for the campsite plus the $4 daily State Park fee or $40 for an annual vehicle pass. The park is at an altitude of 6,600 feet. You can fish, hike or do water sports.

If you are fishing, you can expect to pull in some trout, bass, and perch. Unfortunately, there are not separate areas for fishing and the water sports so you may find the fishing a little tough on the weekends.
